Children are a blessing and they bring much joy to our family. However, their rebellion always challenges our patience and reason, which is a real headache for us and how to teach our children becomes a difficult problem. Only God is our constant support. He comforts us and gives us wisdom. Only if we sincerely rely on Him will we get help and find the correct way to teach children.

If you are a parent and have troubles in teaching children, please read these key Bible verses. We hope they will help.

1. The key to teaching children is encouraging them rather than always scolding them

The correct way to teach children is encouraging them rather than always scolding them. Encouraging is more effective than yelling at them and will help you get closer to your children. Certainly, when children make mistakes, it’s necessary to correct their mistakes. Read these Bible verses and you will find the correct way to teach children.

Colossians 3:21
Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.

Ephesians 6:4
And, you fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.

2. We should guide our children to walk the right path

In the course of children’s growing, it’s best to guide them to come before God and to build a normal relationship with God. This will help them right their transgressions, and guide them to walk toward the right path. Thus they will grow up under God’s protection.

The following verses will give you the way to guide your children to walk the right path.

Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

Philippians 4:6–7
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Deuteronomy 6:6–8
6 And these words, which I command you this day, shall be in your heart: 7 And you shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 And you shall bind them for a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.

Ephesians 6:5
Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as to Christ.

3. We should help children establish a close relationship with God and avoid temptations

Guide your children to come before God, and to standardize their words, behavior, and daily life with God’s words. In this way, they will be able to distinguish right from wrong, shun Satan’s evil trends, refuse temptations, walk toward the right path and thus gain God’s salvation.

2 Timothy 3:15
And that from a child you have known the holy scriptures, which are able to make you wise to salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

Proverbs 1:10
My son, if sinners entice you, consent you not.

James 4:7
Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

Ephesians 6:10
Finally, my brothers, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

Proverbs 3:5–7
5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; and lean not to your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct your paths. 7Be not wise in your own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
